competition

the project area is located between the railway station and a shopping area. the project faces a noisy street on one side and a square surrounded by shops on the other side. ulm bahnhofplatz is a prime location in the urban plan of ulm, identified as a new urban architecture regeneration area. the project reacts to the urban conformation, establishing a dialogue with the existing buildings and respecting the visual axis. the building is modelled through excavations and the rotations. a cut in the building enhances the axial relationship between the railway station and the square. a wide restaurant is located in a glass volume on the rooftop away from the busy streets and offering a unique view of the urban landscape.
