in an alpine area, between high pines and mountain paths, an existing cabin is renewed. the project reinterprets traditional forms of mountain houses, playing with the proportions and movement of their parts. the basement, inserted into a steep slope, is maintained and converted into living space. the upper part of the house with a pitched roof is rotated, framing different views of the landscape and generating new spaces between nature and the building. transition areas are thus formed which are protected by a wooden cladding structure. central element of the house is the stone chimney, which becomes the fulcrum around which the spaces are twisting, restoring the dynamic form of the project. the proportions of the fireplace and the gutters have been alternated and become larger, acquiring a new architectural value that enhances building elements of the alpine tradition.
